GENERIC HIV DBS
Using DBS (Dried Blood Spot) enables to collect samples in a non-invasive way, to carry/store samples easily and to be more cost effective regarding HIV infection in newborns or infants under 18 months that have been exposed to the virus.
Concerning diagnosis in newborns or infants, dried blood on DBS should previously be treated with the lysis buffer GENERIC DBS EID Lysis.
In addition, using DBS enables to determine viral load in patients who are geographically far from the laboratory. In this case dried blood must have been treated with the lysis buffer GENERIC DBS EID Lysis.
The spots drawn on GENERIC DBS cards have been pre-cut to avoid using punches.
